92 Grand Marquis wont start
#1
well it all started a week ago when my car shut off because my battery was not strong enough. I went to put the new battery in when the negative wires came out the camp and touched the positive terminal. The negative wire began smoking and something under the car began smoking. I later changed the negative wire, positive wire, got the correct battery, changed the starter (which went bad), and changed the solenoid switch and now it still wont start. Now all it does is crank very slowly like the battery is dead but i just bought a brand new battery. I would like any help or suggestions on what i should try next. One person suggested that i change the wire from the solenoid switch to the starter which is the only thing i have not changed. Please HELP!!!

Most batteries are not at full charge off the shelf. Is the alternator up to par? Have you tried to "excite the solenoid"? Let me know. The original battery must have been very old or completely shot for it to shut the engine down.
