Default 96 Grand Marquis Odometer Issue

I have a 1 owner '96 GM GS w/analog dash. My odometer stopped working and by the looks of it there is no cable but electronic. If I replace the dash panel will the correct mileage adjust itself from the ECM? Right now it's next to impossible to keep track of service needs, etc. Thanks!!

More than likely your odometer gears teeth have stripped off w/ age. This happened to the odometer and tripometer in my '91 Grand Marquis. The odometer and tripometer gears are driven by small servos, the gears are plastic and the teeth on them are common to shear off. Odometergears http://www.odometergears.com/product...rquis+90-97/60
has what you need. I ordered from them to replace my gears and was pleasantly satisfied.

Matt, Thanks - I'm fairly good mechanically. How hard of a job was it to get the cluster out?

I can't speak for a '96 but on my '91 the instrument cluster was fairly easy to remove from the dash. Not too labor intensive. Once you get your cluster out I would recommend replacing all of your instrument cluster light bulbs. The new gears that you get do not require any lube as this company impregnates the plastic w/ lube during the assembly of their gears. I did find it pretty hard to remove the old gears off of the servo and press the new ones on. Just take your time and be patient.
