My check engine light came on my 2005 Grand Marquis. Autozone read the code and said the temperature coolant control sensor was the problem. Where is the sensor located? I found a sensor on the top of the left side of the engine but that control the temp gauge on the instrument panel.

FYI . . . after much searching and with help from my Ford dealer and a mechanic, we determined there is only one sensor on this car. Operates both the temp gauge on the instrument panel and dsignals the ECM. Installed new sensor in less than five minutes and problem was fixed.
