Default Alternator issues

I bought a Crown Vic alternator that pushes out 200 amps to replace mine because I’m upgrading the audio in my car. I hooked it up and it ended up giving huge voltage spikes. I re-replaced it with my old one and now I’m stumped. I took it to autozone to see if maybe the voltage regulator is going out but it seems perfectly fine. Any ideas on how to fix my problem?

The Motorcraft 130-amp alternator that is standard equipment on the big FOMOCO sedans will provide enough sound power to destroy your hearing.
The 200-amp alternator is NOT a good idea.
