Check Engine + weird throttle response !
Hey Guys, I recently bought 1997 mercury grand marquis, I would like some help regarding the check engine light.
It's been on since i bought it, and the car runs weird like if you give it full throttle it sort of chokes like if the intake is clogged i tried checking the air filter thinkin it may be old/dirty but seems like new, the car won't respond to the throttle pressure..
points, cruise control works fine. i havent tried refreshing the computer yet, like battery terminal trick..
pls let me know what i can do to solve this.
thanks guys..

if the check engine light is on, get the codes read. that will help loads in figuring out what the problem is. if you have an autozone near you, they can read the codes for free. if not, check the local parts places, some may do the same thing.

this may be a little too late for you but my car has been having the same problems about choking when you get on the throttle and i was told that when you havent drove the car in a while and you drive it the eletric fuel pupm has no gas in it and it will choke until it fills causing the bogging down... my car does it only in the morning and when it hasnt ben drove for a while.. and the check engine light does it stay on? mine comes on for a few seconds and then goes right back off...
