YES! (and no a little). There is a law, but it doesn't specifically apply to the type of lamp (fog) but the number of lamps.

The law is no more than 4 beam lights (fogs, lows, highs, not parking or corning lamps).

lo - 2 lamps
lo with fogs - 4 lamps (2 low 2 fog)
hi - 4 lamps (2 hi 2 low)
hi with fog - 6 lamps (2 low 2 hi 2 fog) - violates light law

so now all car manufacturers have added relays in order to shut off the fogs when the hi-beams come on.

On my '96 Intrepid if you held the controller without clicking it into position you could run all six, however, my '04 300M's relay was installed at the lamps not the switch, so once electricity reached the hi-beams it killed the fogs, even if you didn't pull the controller all the way.

Default Pending Foglight install on my 06 LS

Just remove the black out panels and install the fog with same screws. I installed them as if they were factory installed. First, replace the light switch with the fog light option. You can access two wires under the dash for relay and light module control. You really need a wiring diagram to understand where and why you connect the wires. Mounted a relay (Wal-Mart fog light relay) near the battery junction box under hood where all wires met -light switch, light module signal, and fog power wiring. It is simple to do once you understand the wiring. Using the factory hook up, the fogs go off on high beam. If just using a separate switch fogs are on all times. I think there is a law that requires fogs off on high beams (?).

I could email you a page from the wiring diagram manual to show how I did it. Tom

Hi Tom,
Any chance of emailing me a page from the wiring diagram manual as I'm getting ready to obtain the parts to do this? Cheers! John
