Hi, im new to this forum and Mercury Grand Marquis's in general. Im a college student and my previous car was a 93 Eagle Talon, which was unreliable to say the least. I scored my 87 from a neighbor for $900 who used it to drive to Florida, leaving it with only 122,000 miles (108,000 are highway), no rust, and mechanically sound. He bought it new in 1987 and maintained very well, even changing the oil before he left for every trip to florida and when he got there. The paint is also in great condition, just a little fading on the trunk from the florida sun. The funny thing was he loved it so much he bought a new Grand Marquis and wanted to keep the 87 too, but his wife didn't let himdo it.

So, for the fading on the trunk, what should I use to make it shine like the rest of the car? Also, is there any performance and handlingmodifications for this car, it seems pretty quick the way it is right now though. I think it needs a set of shocks since its a little too floaty right now, and the engine hesitates a little.

I'm assuming you can use alot of the same parts as the mustangs with 5.0s had, and im just wondering if these cars make good sleepers. If not I still have my talon sitting in my driveway to play with(bad rings, blown main seal), because I'm enjoying driving this car the way it is right now. All the electronics, the stereo, and the engineworks wonderfully, not to mention its builtmuch better than any import crap I have ever owned.
