you can modify the throttlebody by putting a Grand Marquis typr throttlebody arm on in place of the HO setup which is reversed in comparison. that way the air filter and stuff is all in original placement. can also take in the EGR spacer that is smaller diameter and have bored to match the HO diameter. when doing this, you wont need to do accelerator cable swaps and stuff and keep things simple under the hood.

Well the cash park got me off the hook. I guess I'll probably end up just forking that over... Now I just got to wait to head back if we for sure have a deal.. And of course over the weekend I stumbled into a killer deal on a 74 Torino.. I may be pressing my luck and back account on that though... Maybe I can organize another trade.. lol..

How do we know if it's a 28 spline or 31 spline axle?

I think the axle codes should break down how many splines you have.. The 31 spline axles were mostly used in Exploders, Trucks, and probably some mustangs... Maybe police package Crown Vics..

Update on the 91 Crown Vic deal.. Well The Vic is still on the market but the guy found a good deal on an Escort wagon which is what he wanted in the first place.... (Actually a really good deal I'm jealous) I kinda feel good about not dumping the Sable one someone too even though I'm still stuck with it.. (Oh yeah the pass window came out of the track and left muffler fell off this past weekend.. F-ing POS!!)

He still has the Vic for sale and is asking $500 but in reality I don't need/have room for another car.. Hopefully I can find someone who will appreciate it and send them his way...

the gear codes are specific to ALL Crown Vics, Grand Marquis and Town Cars including wagons. if i remember right, you can use gears and stuff from a Mark 7 also.

You can use gears from any ole 8.8 rear be it solid axle or IRS.. You do have to watch though, The Granada/Monarch had an 8.7" rear.. Almost identical until you try to put it together.. These things are so rare chances are slim of coming across one..

I know in the 70's and back the axle code would also designate whether is was 28 or 31 spline.. From what I can gather, the number of splins on the axles for an 8.8 can only be found out by the numbers off the tag.. Also from what I can gather the 31 spline 8.8 didn;t debut until 1998ish in the Exploder, E & F Series.. And later in the Mustang Cobra...

Max: true. I forgot about that. and actually for me, just getting the custom dual exhaust (2.5 or 3 inch) would probably be plenty. Already have my redneck intake (which I may replace with one of those modified 93 acura intakes eventually) which works much better than the stock intake did. I may look into the larger intake plenums from the newer explorers too.
