Hi, Just wondering if it''s possible to retrofit the electric radiator fan from the newer models like the 2000 town car into my ''92 MGM? I bet that belt-driven fan sucks a lot of power....but would my electrical system support that electric power draw of the newer one? Just a thought.

I''m not sure about a swap from a Town Car but they make electric fan kits w/t-stat wiring for most cars. If not, there are universal ones that are reversable so you can mount it fore or aft of the radiator. Wherever you have the space for it. A clutch fan in good operating condition will just freewheel most of the time. When it heats up and engages, it will take "some" power away from the engine. But in my opinion, it is worth it for it''s reliability. Mechanical vs. electrical anyone?

I do agree with the reliability factor. I couldn''''t believe it the first time I opened the hood to my 2000 TC to find NO belt-driven radiator fan...just a very large electric one. Good point, I think I''''ll just replace my fan clutch and be done with it...I think it''''s stuck because it seems to run even when the temp outside was 8 F...and my inside heater isn''''t "hot"...it gets warm and eventually heats up the interior, but not like my TC does...it will burn you out of the car. On the Merc, I''''ll get almost to work, a 50 mile drive, before it becomes uncomfortably warm in the cabin. It could be a sticking thermostat too but I think it''''s the fan clutch. Thanks for the input.
