Just got a low mileage, one-owner, 1999 Grand Marquis LS & am wondering what the actual differences in a GS & LS are.
Does anyone KNOW??

Hello, Tex, and welcome to the Mercury Forums.
Looks like you got hold of a fine automobile -- it should last for MANY more years, and provide a plenty of comfort and safety.
Click my name for info on my '95 Marquis restoration -- and some pictures. You may want to incorporate some parts, or do some of the modifications to your own rig.
The differences between the GS and LS models of the Grand Marquis are centered around the Options Packages.
The Engines, Transmissions, Rear-End Gears, and Suspensions are identical between models.
The GS has the analog dashboard -- the LS has the digital electronic dashboard.
The GS has Manual Temperature Controls, the LS Temp Controls are Automatic.
To see ALL of the differences for your particular year, Google the Make, Year, and Models that interest you.

95 MERC,

THANKS for the kind welcome.

Since I posted about the 1995 LS with 86,000 miles (which looks quite like your 1995), I've found & am going to go pick up a 1996 NAVY BLUE/gray cloth interior GS with 48,000 original miles on it from near La Porte, TX.
(The GS looks almost "as new". = It was the "4th car" of a 81YO/retired COL/06 in the Army, who passed away suddenly in AUG18. = The Navy-Blue 1995 was bought for the COL's wife, who seldom drove it & passed away in 2013.)

I just couldn't resist buying that one from the COL's estate. - It has FOUR almost new Michelin tires on it.

So I will soon have TWO similar Grand Marquis to detail/restore.
(I suspect that my adult daughter will end up getting the 1996 for her birthday, this year. = My "Noemi" is a "car chick" & I believe will love the Blue car.)

ADDENDA: What exactly have you done to your Marquis to improve it??
(I have "the feeling" that the photo that you posted was supposed to "open" a video but couldn't get it to do so.)

yours, tex

95MERC,

THANKS Chuck for your laundry list of improvements for your Marquis. = Sounds like what I need to do the same work to the '95 LS, as I plan to use it as a daily driver.

Once I get the Blue 1996 "in hand" & have had the work completed on the White 1995, I'll likely have Steve (my "part-time mechanic") start on Noemi's "birthday present".
(Steve is partially disabled & does my work when he feels like doing it. = NO RUSH in the case of the Blue GS.)

THANKS AGAIN, tex
