I was told by the salesman that the Mariner doesn't have to have Premium gas. Just wondering what people are using out there.

I will usually run a tank of Mid-grade through it one time per month just to clean it out a bit. The mileage doesn't increase or decrease noticably no matter what I burn.

Changing fuel grade has nothing to do with "cleaning it out". Fuel grade,ie octane level, has to do with the control and speed of burn of mixture. Simply put, the higher the rating, the slower the burn. Actually has more to do with valve timing @ detonation.

If you want to clean, use Techron fuel system cleaner. Works better than all others.Edited by: Lenny
