I started shopping for a Ford Fusion. I wanted a Merlot Red with a Black Leather interior, and there were only 2 of that combination located in Florida- an I4 in Tampa and a V6 in Homestead.

So while I was figuring out if I wanted to buy a car unseen, I decided to look at the Milan. I always looked at Mercury products as an old man's car, but the Milan changed my mind, and the V6 Premier was competitive with the Fusion SEL.

While at the dealership, I came across a brand new 2006 Mercury Milan leftover so right away, I saw dollar signs in my favor- especially as the last 2006 on the lot of all the car lines..

2006 Mercury Milan V6 Premier with Safety and Comfort packages.
$20,500 + taxes, reg, and $499 dealer fee. Sticker was $25,995.

Love the car, but only getting 20 MPG after first 1200 miles. Hoped to get better mileage, but I love driving the car!

I hope you enjoy your new car. The Milan shouldn't be competitive with the fusion. It is a step up in the quality of materials. So, it should be better.

This is my first FoMoCo purchase in 21 years. Previously, I bought an off-lease 1984 Mercury Topaz in June, 1986. Fortunately, I was able to return the vehicle under New York State's lemon law.

Just about a month ago, I bought a 2007 Mercury Milan Premier I4 with the 5-speed manual, heated leather seats, power moonroof, and Sirius satellite radio. It is black/black. I walked into the dealership with a printout of the car that I wanted (approximately 100 miles away). The salesman took my printout (I kept a copy for myself) and checked to see if it was available. It was!

We then discussed price. The sticker was $22695. He subtracted $750 which was the Ford division rebate amount; the Mercury discount/rebate at the time was $195 (why even bother?). He offered Ford Motor Credit with 2.9 financing (60 months) and the deal was done.

So far, so good. I am angry with DaimlerChrysler for dropping virtually all manual transmissions in lieu of CVT's. Other than FoMoCo, my options were limited to Honda Accord EX-L and Toyota Camry SE (if purchased in the southeast). These were more money and didn't offer fog lights with the manual.

One gripe that I have with the Milan is that the navigation system wasn't available with the manual (same with Fusion; but is with theMazda6). I've heard that it will be available in this combo for '08).

that is HORRIBLE mileage, why would you waste your money on such a thing? i get over 23 driving in the mountains at home and over 26 hwy. and i actually have interior space and a trunk, unlike you.

Mileage is now 19/25. I'm happy with that.

Tell us what you're driving at 23/26. It's easy to throw stones, but if you're driving an '86 Escort, I'd rather have the V6 power.

I don't know what you're talking about with regards to space. The trunk holds 3 large suitcases, and my 6'3" son sits in the back all the time with headroom to spare.

Did you come here just to start trouble?
