I'm going to look at a 1968 Mercury Montego MX Convertible this week and it says it has the C4 automatic transmission and the 302 V8. It also has a splint bench seat or what I would call bucket seats. The shifter is on the floor. My last Montego had a bench seat with the shifter on the column. My question is... was this an available option for the Montego in 1968? Or has this been modified to a different transmission?
Thanks for you help
It's factory. It's a sportier package that could be ordered with the Montego MX convertible in 1968. Mine has the same setup, automatic floor shifter with PRND12. Fun fact, the 1968 Mercury Montego MX convertible could only be bought with the 302 V8 engine, and only around 3,200 of the Montego MX Convertible were produced. Pretty rare car, especially with the bucket seats and floor shifter.
