The Montego has arrived and at my dealership the new car sales department cannot keep them in stock... I actually watched a salesperson sell one as it came off the truck.. Looks likeFORD may actually have a winner here. Has anyone purchased one or looking into it.. What do you think?Edited by: MercAdvisor

The dealership I work at has a large stock of these cars now. they aren't selling like they should be. I have driven a number of these and they are a big improvement over the Sable. I had hoped that they would have been rear wheel drive or all wheel drive with a north-south engine arrangement but instead the engineers went for front wheel drive. I have been hearing some feedback from the sales department that the Montegoneeds more enginepower, and I would say it could also use more power steering boost when parking.

The Montegoplatform will probably be used for the next generation Grand Marquis orfor it's replacement, and thenwhere will people turn to if they wish to buy arear wheel drive car?

at my dealership we are sitting on the front wheel drive versions of these cars however the all wheel driver versions are selling well. However the Montego is not the replacement for the Sable the Milan due to release in fall 2005 is the sable replacement the Montego is actually a new car for Mercury. We had the Milan on display at my dealership and as long as they dont price themselves out of the market they have a winner with that car i think. The only problem i see is the Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan and Lincoln Zephyr are going to be all the same bodystyle so that may hurt sales..

The Montego is defiently a winner. We have done very well with the car. It seems to fit my market here in Winston-Salem, NC quite well. Where are you guys from? Personally, I am reall excited about the new products. If anything, the Montegomight be a future replacment for the Grand Marquis. Don't you think it is odd to offer two full size sedans by the same brand?
