Where can I find the keyless codes for the 98 Mountaineer? I'm trying to avoid going through a dealer.

WHEN I GOT MY SABLE I DIDN'T HAVE THE CODE, SO I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEYTOLD ME EXACTLTY WHERE ON THE CAR TO FIND IT. THEY PUT THEM IN ALL SORTS OF PLACES FROM TRUNK HINGES ON SOME TO A COMPUTER BOX IN THE FIREWALL LIKE MINE. CALL A DEALERSHIP ASK FOR PARTS AND SERVICE. IF THEY WON'T TELL YOU TRY ANOTHER DEALERSHIP. GOOD LUCK!

 

The code is printed on the Anti-theft personality module behind the left hand rear quarter trim panel. now I had to remove the panel to assess this unit but you don't, if you have a flash light and atelescoping inspection mirror, remove the spare tire jack assess panel look inside toward the front of the car the unit is mounted about 15 inches from the opening shine the light toward it and read the label with the mirror remember this is a mirror image, if you have a digital camera take a picture of it then you can edit it to read it.
