I have a 2006 Mercury Mountaineer AWD. We have experienced some odd sounds....

1. When stopped on the side of the road (the side of the road is dirt, sloped downward and away from the road) and then turning sharp onto the road to the left to make a U-turn, going from a lower level of ground to the higher level of the road (pavement), I hear a grinding sound from the left front wheel well. The sound went I away as soon as I straightened out.

2. Wet weather, driving off a paved road to a dirt road (slightly muddy), went about 200 yards and went to stop, I felt the brake peddle bounce a bit, and a then a grinding sound from the left front wheel well, it stopped when I was fully stopped. Started forward and the road is slippery, kicking up mud, and the soundcame back; got worse the more I went forward. The sound went away a soon as I got on the paved road.

The sound is not like metal on metal, more like tire on plastic.

Thank you
