I heard that once you change the tranny fluid you will have nothing but
trouble this is the first time i am doing it i have 114,000 and i dont think it has ever been done... the reason i am doing it is.. suv shutters at about 35 to 40 mph only in OD.

make sure to change the filter as well and make sure the fluid level is right. sometimes that stuttering can be caused by low fluid levels. just topping it off can fix it. My wife''s vic however was slowly eating it''s torque converter and that''s what was causing that stuttering in her car. had that tranny rebuilt (new torque converter, clutches, and a few other parts) and it''s run like a champ ever since.

A car that has alot of miles on it and has never had a fluid change is severly prone to the high pressure that the new fluid presents. It will blow out the o-rings, gaskets and other seals that have aged and been able to survive with the watery old fluid. It is not an urban myth or a definate either.

< =text/>_popupControl();</> I have 1989 MGM with 160 thousandmiles on it. The tranny when on it about 5 years ago. I went to the junk yard and got an older one 1988. The fluid looked like crap and i didn''''''''t know now many miles that tranny had. So, what i did is change only half of the fluidbecause i think it has 10 quart capacity.I flush half of itand put5 quarts with a new filter. My quess is that the new fluid mixed in with the oldand did not damagetheo-rings,gaskets and other seals.Right now, i have replace the filter and fluid only twice and neverhad problems. If the tranny is working good i don''''''''t think you are going to have any problem but that is your decision. So, good luck....... Edited by: pdman
