Hello all,
I have a 02' mountaineer with a infrequent starting problem.
It doesn't want to start right away. I will crank the engine for a few seconds or more with nothing. If I step on the gas at the same time it will start, however, I get a huge plume of black smoke out the tail pipe.
It doesn't run rough once it is started and it doesn't stall out.
This problem is inconsistent. It will do it some mornings after sitting all night and it will do it sometimes after its been sitting for just a few hours and or mins, but like I said, not all the time.
History:
2002 mountaineer 130K awd 4.0l sohc engine, recent tune up(plugs,wires,fuel filter, all Motorcraft) I do use the 87 octane at the pump.
Any ideas???
