Can the headlight lens be cleaned?

Can the headlight lens' on a 98 Mystique be cleaned. They have gotten fogged over with some substance or wear since I bought the car new. Or would it be easier just to replace them?

I have plastic lenses, and found a plastic lense cleaning kit at the local auto parts store. It took the yellowing out and retoored them to near new. Try that....I bet the replacements are expensive,
