Check out Ebay or a junkyard. With a car that old, you might be out of luck finding original parts. But you could always grab modern replacements, which I'm sure you could find chrome trim quite easily.

You can try "The Old Car Guys.com. Look through the junk yard sections. I think they have a 50 mercury at Sonny Junkyard in Minnesotta. They have descent prices too.

Default Need Help Mercury 1950 power steering

My father in law has a mercury 1950 and at his age it’s became more difficult for him to drive because the steering bar it's very hard to make turns, he bought a power steering kit but the mechanic said that for him to be able to install he has to change the steering bar and this will take off the car's originality. Someone can let me know if it is possible to install the power steering kit without removing or changing the steering bar without taking the car's originality?

In general, originality isn't paramount except for the rare concours cars, which is to suggest ignoring that factor. If you do install a power setup simply retain all the old removed components. Secondly if I may be so bold, and my 80 years generally allows me to be, 'at his age' he should be visiting the gym or equivalent, as I do, and getting back his upper body strength as the benefits are more than just steering but he will appreciate the improvement throughout various other activities in his daily life as well.
