Default 1988 Grand Marquis / New to Forum

Hi Everyone, just joined the forum. Glad I found this site, I have a question...I have a 1988 Grand Marquis in beautiful condition, only 30K miles and been garaged for the vast majority of it's life. It was my grandfather's before I inherited it in 2001. It seems I have finally reached the point of potentially letting it go, but cannot really find a true value for it - mainly because of it's excellent condition and low miles. I haven't found many to compare it to. Since you are the experts on Mercurys, I was wondering if anyone has any insight on a fair selling price. I am in the Boston area.

Well to get the most bang for your buck I would use the KBB, use excellent condition price, then find someone who likes American V-8 RWD land yahchts and ask for more. I know you said the cond. was great but you need to go over it and check everything that does not age well. Most imp. would be hoses, tires, belts, etc. Don't forget to change any fluids that have been sitting for a long time. Good luck fellow N.Eastener.

Thanks Conan. It has new tires and I just had a mechanic go over everything. We replaced the brake line; other than that it was in great shape. KBB is much lower than I though for value -- I am figuring it is a sale that would be geared towards some who is looking for that specific vehicle, thus be worth more money...

I think for a car in excellent condition (especially if that car has NO rust under it) you could probably ask $2000 for it and get it. However, because of the low mileage rating of the old land yacht, you may only be able to get $1500 for it, even in great condition.

I Dont think you should go by kbb... i think their prices on the mgms are very low ball prices...
