Default 2001 Grand Marquis-what should I pay?

hello, Im looking at buying a nice 01 Grand Marquis silver LS from a co worker. It has only 57000 miles. Car rides and drives good. He said I could have it for $5600, but no less. Is this a good deal or should I walk away?

if it's in MINT condition, then maybe. If it's fully loaded with leather and all the bells and whistles AND in good condition, then it might be worth it. KBB puts that one at about $5500 with complete maintenance history and absolutely nothing wrong. $5000 for minor wear and without maintenance history. (values based on the base LS setup - if it's got leather, dual heated power seats and side airbags, then that would be a good price at $5600, but if it's the base LS setup, they're asking too much)

thanks Slymer for the info. Ive never owned a Ford product before. Its a nice car but it's just the base LS pkg no leather or CD. Car runs and drives great, but does show a little wear on exterior, not mint. The low mileage of 57000 for a 9 year old car is what got my attention. I'll counter with $5000 and if he want go for that I'll walk.

I've always found KBB prices to be too low. If you compare KBB to what's actually on the market you'll find a substantial difference. If the car in question is in very good condition and the fellow bought it new and took good care of it, I think $5600 is a good price. You'll easily get another 100,000 miles on it with very few problems.

Buy it, if you like it.

Well I did buy it!! Its more my wife's car than mine. She will be driving it 90% of the time back and forth do work. Right now she is driving 150 miles per day. Cars is getting between 24 to 25 MPG. Not bad for a car of this size. I did 1st oil change today and this car looks almost brand new underneath- clean and bone dry. The Marquis took the place of our 94 chev caprice with 235000 miles. I hope the Marquis will give us the service the Caprice did.
