Default Hello All, need some help!

Hello, My name is Dave, i dont have a GM, ive seen some helpful posts on here, i just need some clarification.

Im helping out a friend, i replaced the window motor, it didnt fix the problem of the window going down. Then her dad had a look, the regulator recoiled. I really dont think these things were meant to be recoiled. Anyways, i did finally get it recoiled and the window locked in the up position. She tried to roll it down, why i dont know, and it went halfway down, she heard a pop and then it stopped working. I had a picture mailed to me, apparently the regulator **** the bed again. By the way this is a 1999 Merc GM. So im going to replace the regulator, i saw that the window is held in by the same type of rivets on that held the regulator in place. The ones you need to punch out the center, then drill out the remaining pieces. How do i do this without shattering the glass. Would it be wise to heat up rivets? Or do i drill at low speed, high speed, low pressure? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
