Help please with 99 cougar

Okay i am replacing my rear struts and it is virtually impossible to get the top bolt out ..it is located under the back hatch ...Does any one know what kind of tool i need thanks

You should have three bolts to remove, not just one. Leave the center nut on and unbolt the three on the outside to drop the unit out. A nice ratchetering wrench works nice for this job as there's not alot of room.
