< src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" =text/> </>I drive a 2000 Mercury Sable(Single overhead) with 200,000 miles(Yeah I know its a lot, but im in college and its all i got). I'm having some problems with my idle control and my AC/Heat.

My first problem is my idle control. The car runs fine when on the highway, but if you come to a complete stop at a redlight, the engine sounds like it is having trouble keepingat a constant rate. Almost like it wants to turn off. We took my car to autozone and they checked the computer. They said it was my third cylinder. So Ichanged the sparkplugs and sparkplug wires, put a new tank of high quality fuel in, and put somefuel system cleaner in. No change....It still has an idle control problem. Im thinking I may need to change my fuel filter.

My second problem is my AC/Heat.We recently replaced the air compressor in my car after it went out but Im still having trouble gettingheat and air out of my car. We recently replaced the thermostat and did two coolant flushes in the past3months. When we flushed out the coolant the water was pure rust colored in both instances. Im thinking it has to be the heating coil.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks! < =text/> _uacct = "UA-939292-45"; urchinTracker(); </>

Sounds like coolant system corrosion that has got to the heater core. Hence the heat problem. I think the car is to young to be low on refridgerant but you never know. I think it is the coolant system that has been neglected for way too long, along with 200,000k has taken it's toll on the whole HVAC system ( condenser, evaporator, heater core, orfice tube, o-rings, PAG oil, etc ) Second, does the car only idle funny when it is gear? What about if there are accessories on or off? I.A.C. (idle air control)is probably filthy or shot. Let me know. P.S.: Do you have a temp gauge?
