Hello folks - I have a 2005 Sable 3.0L with a dead automatic transmission. ONly two years old, but I have 58k highway miles so I am out of warranty (36k). The transmission is full of clean trans fluid, the linkage is working but when I shift to any gear I get no response from the drivetrain. The RPM's of the motor adjust slightly as if the computer is compensating for the anticipated gear, but nothing moves.


Question: Is there any known controller that gets invovled with this transmission engaging, or does it seem to you - as it does me -that I am faced with a needed rebuild? I have to decide whether to go to the dealer or try to take it to a transmission shop. If I need a rebuild the dealer is going to be worse, if I need a good diagnosis the dealer may be better.
