Hello, i treid to install an auto start in a 96 mercury sable, everything went fine but when the car would start it would run for like 2 seconds then shut off. and the theft light would be on, so i finally removed the auto start and now it still does it with the key in the ignoition. it looks like the computer has shut off the fuel supply. anyone know how to reset the computer or fix this problem? i treid disconnecting the battery and that didnt work

check your fuel pump relay and then the fuel pump itself [img]smileys/smiley1.gif[/img]

 

Try deconnecting the theft device


call a tech if its ford theft device.

 

well as I told somebody else, it is probably your gas cap, if you screw it on all the way at the gas station then you have an airtight gas tank, the fuel pump then creats a vacume which robs the engine of gasoline, try loostening up the gas cap a turn or two and starting the engine.
