97 Sable overheating
#1
I looked at all the old post that were on the overheating problem on the 97 sable 3.0. I'm having the same problem with the pissing of antifreeze and overheating. I have replaced the water pump, tank and flushed the heater core and radiator. I'm at the point of trying a rot on the radiator, as advised by a radiator shop, but don't want to waste the cash if this won't help. Anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks

Yes I have tried it with it in & out. With it out the temp gauge just keeps rising until hot. With it in it stays at about halfway, but still is pissing fluid out the expansion tank. The only thing I have not done is bypass the heater core.

Ok I bypassed the heater core. When it is running everything seems to be okay and it doesn't overfill the expansion tank. When you take it on a 20 mile run at 65 or above and then kill it the expansion tank still fills up and pisses fluid. It didn't seem to pee as much as it has before, but it still has a problem somewhere. Do you know how the circulation in this motor works because the temp gauge never gets above the halfway point? I'm like you I think it could be something I am overlooking.

Can anyone tell me what the following part is and what is it's function? I have a '97 Sable 3.0 sohc. The part I am questioning is locatednear the water neck, connects toa hose on one side to the heater core. It has wires connected to it. I presumed it was the temperature sensor, but since I'm having trouble with overheating I'm concerned it may be a valve not opening causing my problem. Thanks

I had the radiator shop recheck my 97 single ohc and he had to rot it out again before it finally quit pissing anti-freeze. I reconnected the heater core and as of today it's doing fine. He never could explain why it was doing this. Thanks to everyone for the support.
