I have a 2000 Sable. I am having a problem with my auto door locks. Periodically The door ajar indicator shows that I have a door open and the inside light is on when I start the car. I have tried getting out and opening and shutting all the doors and even the trunk. This doesn't stop the problem. Even cutting the engine off and starting over doesn't work.If I begin to drive the locks don't automatically engage.After a mile or so down the road the locks automatically lock and things are back to normal. Any suggestions?

i have a 1997 with the same problem but way worse. it happens constantly and it stays like that until the car sits overnite. mercadvisor told me to spray penetrating oil into the lock. i' ve yet to try it so i'll let you know or vise-versa if you try it.

 

SPRAY ALL DOOR LATCHES WITH WD40 AND OPEN AND CLOSE EACH DOORFIVE TIMESAND RESPRAYALL DOOR LATCHES AGAIN NOTE DO NOT SPRAY IN KEY CYL ONLY LATCHES GOOD LUCK

 

worked for me, now i can finally put that giant silver fuse back inthe block that kept my interior lights onwhen it was acting up.
