what exactlly does a dash install kit do?

dash install kit is the unit used to hold the new head unit in the dash board after you take out the original one. You have to have this unit to install a aftermarket unit.

I also have a 10 disk cd changer i took out my trunk when i but in my subs. It works fine, paid close to $1000 for it with install will sell for $350 with wires.
