Default oil and movement

1994 sable sedan gs the top piston #6 moves . isthis normal?

moves? please elaborate. it's supposed to move up and down. if it's moving side to side, then the rings probably need to be replaced... if it will move up and down without the rod pushing it, then it needs to be replaced.

move s side to side about 1 mil. to each side how much is suposed to moved?

one mil... that's not much at all (if you mean one millimeter though... that's a bit more and you'll probably need to consider replacing the piston rings). if there's no/minimal scoring on the cylinder wall then I'd say it's just a worn ring. if there's major scoring on the walls (any groves more than a few thousandths of an inch deep) you may want to bore out and sleeve that cylinder. Or just put it all back together and run some engine restore ( http://www.restoreusa.com/ ) and it will shore up those cylinder walls and help reduce oil burning and increase compression. I use this stuff in my wife's 93 vic that has somewhere betweek 180K and 190K miles on it (best guess cause the odometer didn't tally miles for a year of extensive driving) and that car still runs great.

edit: I'm not sure what the specs are for min/max wiggle room.
