My 2000 Sable has the standard radio cassette.

Can I put in a same Ford/Mercury factory radio that has the single CD/Radio? In other words swap out the old and put in a different that has the CD built in - all factory Ford/Mercury items.

Is this just plug and play - or does the wiring/connectors have to be changed?

It may depend on the climate control connections as well. Also there are different radios such as mach set up

 

I am reading that the CD was not offered as an option this year.

So I guess my question is can the radio/CD from a 2001 work with year 2000?

In other words, did the radio connectors change from model year 2000 to model year 2001 and higher?

 

Oh ya thats right i have the standered tape as well but i have the mach system which comes with a 6 disk changer. I would check the connecters if your going that route and switching units
