I have a 1993 Sable GS that has a problem.

Sometimes when I start from a dead stop, I heard and feel a loud thump
that seems to be coming from under the front seat area. It
doesn't happen every time. I have checked underneath the car and
can't see anything that would be causing it.

Anyone have any ideas as to where to start?

have the motor mounts checked

 

does that car have cradle mounts that can wear out??

 

Thanks for the replies. I took it to the Ford dealer and they
replaced the passenger-side motor mounts and the upper and lower rear
subframe bushings. No more clunking!
