Hi everybody, I'm new to MF and new to being a mercury owner. My fiance bought a 2007 milan I4 yesterday with 33,000 miles. I noticed last night that the heater in it takes FOREVER to heat up, but once it does it blows hot air. The fan on it is EXTREMELY loud, I heard her coming from a block a way. So I put two and two together and thought maybe the thermostat was stuck open, so I put cardboard infront of the radiator and had her try it out this morning and it made no difference on how fast it heated up.

I've owned lots of vehicles, but i've never had one heat up this SLOW or be that LOUD from the fan. We started it up and sat for about 15 seconds, drove a mile down the road to a fast-food joint, sat in the drive thru for about 5 minutes and drove the mile back to the house, and right as we pulled in the driveway it was blowing hot air. Is this normal for 4 cylinders?

Also, when we turn corners the steering is very hard and as you round the corner you can feel a slight pulse in the steering wheel that is kind of a "knock knock knock" as if someone lightly was knocking on the steering wheel.

After I tried the carboard, I assumed that maybe the coolant and steering fluid levels were low, but they seemed to be adequate.

Is there something wrong, or am i just dreaming up things in fear we bought a bum car?
