95 Mercury Villager. My cd player automatically starts after starting car and indicates there is a cd in the unit and tries to play it. After about 15 seconds, it shuts off, then 20-30 seconds later, it starts again, goes on and off for several minutes and then finally remains off. I took it out of the dash, took it apart to get the cd out, but to my surprise, there isn't a cd in there. Is this a minor problem that just needs some cleaning, is there a place that wold repair this reasonable, or should I just find another cd player. Thanks for your help, Debbie

I recently replaced a cd changer in my 1996 Mercury Sable LS which
actedas if it had a mind of its own, and upon inspection appeared to
have had a cd shatter at some time, completely fouling the interior
workings of the changer. I ordered a replacement unit from a company
called CDchangersonline.com, and so far have been happy with the
replacement unit, although I could not mount the unit in the original
trunk location. The product, instructions and adapters were all first
rate, and the installation went smoothly. Check them out!
