Default Hello to all, I need some help if possible

Hello all, Im new to the forum, but not new to the grand marquis. I previously owned a 97 LS which was my favorite car i have had. Had an accident and got totalled out. Anyway, Im looking to purchase a 95 grand marquis that needs a engine (knocking horribly, ran with no oil). I work at a "Pick A Part" style junk yard in indianapolis and I can easily get a motor, but there is something that isnt making sense. According to the Hollander Interchange Book, the motor HAS to be a 95 only. GM, CV, or towncar. Does anyone know why this is??? Is it a few parts to change over or more into it than that. Thank you very much hoping for help!

The '96 and up engines have different heads, intake and throttle body.. Some early '92s (up to build date 2/92) had the old small block Ford bell housing.. Late '92 to '95 should work fine, but you may have to swap exhaust manifolds, intake, oil pain, or accessories pending on the doaner.. Cougar/T-Bird 94-95 Crown Vic/Town Car/Grand Marquis 2/92-95 will all work with some minor parts swapping...

THe later engines with the plastic intake can be made to work but you will need to do some work to the throttle linkages and wiring harness, and air intake..
