Default New owner of 99 MGM

Grateful to join the GM club. I just purchased a 1999 GS with 37,000 miles from a single owner garage kept. I've already had to get an alignment and a new battery. So far, not bad for a 20 year old car! I have noticed that the front driver wheel has a cyclic squeak. I didn't remove the wheel yet, but I briefly stuck my head under the car and looked for a bent dust shield and it was not making contact with the rotor. So, I'm guessing that not much has been changed on this vehicle and it may be the brakes, although there is no sign of bad braking. It seems to brake pretty well. It's a high pitch squeak so I wonder if its the pad indicator? I probably should take the wheels off and replace the brakes lol. Any other guesses what it might be?
Also, I've noticed a hard shift around 40-45mph. If I'm counting right, it's 3rd gear. Could this be from the ECM or TCM? I don't even know if this year has a TCM. But I'm sure the previous owner didn't drive quite as heavy as I do. Any and all recommendations are welcome! Thanks!
