I just bought a Mountaineer today and I love it, but When we got back in it tonight the door ajar light would not go off. We tried opening and closing all of the doors again and nothing. Since the truck thinks the door is ajar, the dome light remains on. I can get the dome light to go off by turning down the auxilary light switch to off. When moving the switch the inside lights will flicker (probably a faulty switch) but I dont think this is causing the door ajar light to stay on. Has anyone heard of this type of thing happening before? Any suggestions on how to go about troubleshooting or/and fixing the problem. Hope someone can help.

spray wd40 into the latch catcher inside all 4 doors, even the the hatch. try it, cause it worked for me. that was 2 years ago and it hasn't acted up since.don't be frugal with the wd40, spray a good amount in each door. let me know.

My back hatch is having trouble latching when I close it. Does anyone else have this problem? It takes 3-5 slams of the hatch to get it closed properly.

look for anything that will adjust the height of the hatch where it rests. or maybe some white lithium grease in the hatch catch and reciever. let me know.

Hey everyone... new member... same problem

2003 mountaineer AWD and the door ajar indicator on the dash just won't go away... did the WD40 thing (almost went through a can of that stuff!) and still the problem remains... someone in another forum mentioned the GEM (Generic electronic module) but I've only heard of it on there and can't find any other references to it...

any other ideas?

thanks for any and all replies... definelty appreciate it!
