Default Removing door trim and dash trim

Hello..there are a couple things i would like to try and repair or improve on my 2002 Mountaineer...one is the rattle in the drivers door...what is the proper way to remove that door trim?..Also the plastic trim piece in the dash just below the 2 directional air vents which are below the radio is chipping off paint...would like to remove it strip it and paint it. That may be quite a task though. should i try some kind of solvent to remove the satin black original finish and then "tape off" the area and spray paint it.?..if anyone has had any experience with either of these i would appreciate the info..Thanks a million.
