I have a question, I have a 89 sable gs, 3.0L auto trans. the engine doesnt get very warm, the temp. gauge gets just off the cold mark and wont go any higher, not complaining too much bout that, but the heat doesnt get very warm, any ideas would be a great help. the climate controls are just the basic ***** nothing digital,

have you checked your coolnt level lately?
have you replaced any hoses that may be collapsed?
have you replaced your thermostat at any point?
have you ever flushed out the heater core backwards to clean it?
have ou ever drained coolant and added new stuff?
the coolant system on the Sable and Taurus is known for popping head gaskets if the coolant isnt changed on a regualr basis. should be changed out every 2 years or so. some of the questions above are some things to check for and replace if necessary. dont need the cooling system of your car causing bigger more costly problems.

Harvest Gold is on the right track. Only the original body style Taurus and Sables had head gasket troubles. Mostly the 3.8 litre, more than the 3.0, which was phased out when the new body style was introduced. Let your car run for a while and feel all the coolant hoses. They should all be close in temp. And especially feel the two heater hoses that enter the firewall on the passenger side. That will eliminate the heater core. If you're low on coolant, feel the passenger side rug under the floormat for wetness. That will be a heater core. Let me know.
