My 1997 Sable seems to bog, almost like a rev limiter, when I depress the fuel pedal to the floor. It won't gather any speed and it won't change gears until I ease up on the gas.( maybe 3/4 throttle ) It does not seem like the car is supposed to do it. Any ideas?

mine sometimes does the same, as i understand if your inside a certain
speed window it wont trigger a shift when the throttle is increased

there is a limit in the computer to stop the shift function at certain
speeds, so the effect is you floor it and you get no shift but load
engine noise from running to rich and not enough power to speed up
quickly.

you have to be in a certain range of speed to be able to floor it and
have the gear change, i think it was meant to ligjhten stress on the
tranny so it didnt slam into 3rd when you floor it and break something
from slamming in at 6000 rpm

THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY. THE BOGWASALWAYS AN INTERMITENT PROBLEM. 100% OF THE TIME IT WILL DO IT ON MY SUNDAY DRIVE WITH THE WIFE AND KID. MEANING DRIVING AT THE SPEED LIMIT OR BELOW WITH NO HEAVY ACCELERATION. AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR OR SO OF THIS STYLE DRIVING IT WILL ACT UP. IF I DRIVE THE CAR FAST (HEAVY ACCELERATION, LOTS OF DOWNSHIFTS) IT ALMOSTNEVER ACTS UP. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT EVER. THIS WEEK I,VE BEEN RUNNING 93 OCTANE, PUT IN SOME FEUL INJECTOR CLEANER, AND OCTANE BOOST. IT HASN'T ACTED UPBUT, I HAVEN'T HAD A SUNDAY DRIVE YET. I'LL LET YOU KNOW. PLEASE REPLY IF YOU HAVE ANY MORE INPUT. BY THE WAY IT'S A 24V DURATEC.

check your air filter also, if the air filter is restricting the flow, there is to much fuel to little air, the mixture is off balance so you have no power......

fuel filter change, high octane booster, fuel injector cleaner, and Sunoco 94for awhile, and it has never bogged again. or made apingfor that matter. i don't think it ever idled or ran so nice since i got it.but it must still be a piece of crap cause there is no way it would do 160 m.p.h.like your one of a kind sable.l.o.l.

ya know, one bottle usally treats a full tank or 20 gallons. maybe you should try cam2 fuel or straight methanol.
