Any one out there have any good suggestions for aftermarket cold air intake kits and throttle body that would be an extra hp bump. Also, what''s your take on throttle body spacers. Obviously, duel exhaust and new headers would do alot for me. Headers kinda pricey so not yet. Hit me up Merc people.

considering that all the speed shops cater to mustangs and not land yachts, you''ll probably have to look for a mustang throttle body spacer. Cold air intake is a definite build it yourself job for someone with an 88 like me, but they do sell some for the 2000 body style. Look for a 1997-2004 cold air intake. Depending on your budget, a quick Google search brought up kits from $166 to $260. I''m planning on building a cold air intake for my car using ducting (if I can find the sizes I want) from some place like Home Depot because I want a true cold air intake and not just a warm air intake like a pipe and filter would be under my hood.

Ive seen cold air intakes on ebay for less than $100. But those kits use very thin tubing. They work ok, but for about the same money you can go to autozone and get all the tubing you need and build your own.

I wouldn''t bother with a throttle body spacer. All they do is make your wallet lighter.

86-91 Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, and Town Car can have a CAI installed and not have to be super custom. a look at my signature and the picture below of my girlfriends 1989 Crown Vic is a good idea for those who have a 5.0 Panther platform. all it is is a CAI from ebay costing between $30 and $40. it is actually for a 1990-1993 Acura Integra, but fits great after you hacksaw off 6-8 inches off each end.

Installed a TAYLOR HELIX Throttle Body Spacer (#46015, '93-'95 4.6 liter) on the 95 MERC.
Followed instructions carefully, using all parts supplied.
I keep close records of the fuel mileage, recording all fuel used to two(2) decimal places (00.00).

CONCLUSION, after 2,000 miles of use:
NO increase in fuel mileage.
NO measurable increase in power or performance (checked with G-Tech Pro).

My observations show that a throttle-body spacer is of NO USE on a Sequential Port Fuel Injection (what the 4.6 liter engine has) system, as the fuel-air ratio is computer-controlled, and the size/type of fuel injector is a bigger factor than intake-air "turbulence", or lack of same.

After testing and research, I now have an absolutely beautiful, CNC-machined paper-weight to remind me of my gullibility.

HOWEVER, I have used spacers between the carburetor and manifold on several engines, and with both 2 bbl. and 4 bbl. carbs -- with varying results, some positive, but mostly negative.
All things considered, I would advise against the use of spacers for street use.

As for HEADERS on a Grand Marquis !?? You've GOT to be kidding !!
Picture shows dual exhaust on a '95 Grand Marquis -- Walker H-Pipe, 2" Magnaflow Glasspacks, Walker tailpipes. Added 24 Horsepower over the stock single exhaust, checked with G-Tech Pro.
