I have a 1988 mercury grand marquis with the 5.0L. I'm confused because on the cluster i have in mine there is no engine temp gauge. And there are 2 engine lights 1 says check engine the other just has a pic of a engine and says engine. Today the light with the pic of the engine came on for about a Minute and went off. It did that twice in about a mile or 2. My question is what are the differences in the lights? And my owners manual had pics of several clusters but mine is not 1 of them😠. Any help would be appreciated thanks in advance.

 

I believe the one with the engine indicates oil pressure and temperature and the check engine is to indicate a stored code. I would confirm your oil pressure and engine temperature.
