hi, all
this my 1st post in this forum
my run is a2000 grand marquis
i've some questions:
what is the trans tail shaft seal ?
what is its function?
when should it be replaced?
if it has been replaced before, does it mean that the trans had a major problem?
that's all
thank you

tailshaft is located at backside of transmission where the Driveshaft connects to the rearend of the car. the seal you speak of if i am understanding correctly is the seal tthat keeps the transmission fluid in where driveshaft goes into it. dont really need the seal replaced unless it starts leaking. they usually go bad due to a bad balanced driveshaft. it is not a major build thing, just a simple seal that gets replaced.
