its been forever since ive been on here but i have since fixed all issues with the truck and just want to break it down so that others can look here and help themselves. the lighting issue. it seems to be a common thing with this model and the explorers of similar years. you need to take the doorskin off and check for bare wires shorting out on the door, find the damaged piece, splice in new wire, wrap it up and replace the door skin and you're good to go.
